I published my first book with Wiley, Upper Hand: The Future of Work for the Rest of Us, as a guidepost for communities of color strategically finding their way into the jobs and skills of the future. On Friday, a judge handed down life sentences without parole to the three white men who in 2020 gunned down 26-year-old Ahmaud Arbery in New Burn, Georgia as he was jogging. The verdict was one measure of accountability for Arbery’s murder amid the same year that sparked a racial reckoning as the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor reached international recognition.
